KS Highlights: Age of Cthulhu 9 – The Lost Expedition

AoChead

Yesterday without much fanfare Goodman Games launched their latest Kickstarter – The Lost Expedition. This one is the latest in their Age of Cthulhu series of scenarios, and not surprisingly within 24 hours they’ve nearly reached their funding goal.

This title will be the ninth installment in their line of adventure modules officially licensed by Chaosium. Much like the eighth module – Starfall Over the Plateau of Leng – this one will also be released in hardcover. However, unlike the last adventure this time the intrepid investigators will not find themselves bumbling through the Dreamlands, but somewhere else just as terrifying. Read more

1d4Con Debriefing

1d4Table

The fourth annual 1d4Con struck Martinsburg, West Virginia a little more than a week ago. 1d4Con is an event filled with tabletop role-playing games, card games, board games, miniatures, and yes even LARPing. Many folk likely attended one or more of the previous years, and as such, returned again for their fill of Pathfinder or Dungeons & Dragons. And yet, among their number still rose those who attended for the first time.

In full disclosure I’ve been gaming for over 20 years. Yet, this was my first convention. I set out to attend the entire weekend with other Lodge members attending throughout the event, and this is a telling of our adventures. Read more

Announcing Chaosium’s First Organized Play Campaign

CoC_Logo

Here at the Lodge it is no secret that we love the Call of Cthulhu role-playing game. Most of us have over 20+ years experience playing and / or running it. So when Chaosium announced that they were doing their first ever organized play campaign called A Time to Harvest… I got excited, though some members remained neutral.

For the daring Keeper (aka Game Master) who wishes to embark on this grand adventure campaign you must know that it is a six-part campaign set in 1930 with one installment being released over a six month period. Your players are all students at Arkham’s Miskatonic University who will not only be “drawn into a dark web of intrigue” they will also explore various locations that make up Lovecraft Country.

While the campaign is designed for the 7th edition rule-set, which has been recently released digitally with the print version coming soon, it can be played using older editions. Some minor adjustments will need to be made, but nothing that should really slow down a seasoned Keeper. That said, if you don’t have a previous edition of the rules, and you’re not a digital fan, you can pre-order the print edition HERE.

To Save Chaosium!

IMAG0029

Well, maybe that’s a little dramatic, definitely helping them move some stock, though. I recently bought some sanity-shattering Chaosium goodies from Amazon, I was quite pleased with my purchase, and then…! Chasoium goes and has a massive sale on all kinds of stuff. Once gone, these rare tomes would not be reordered or reprinted. With Chaosium’s recent changes, and trying to get the company in order, this was my way to help them out. I’ve been a loyal fan and customer for many years. So, I did what any good, Cthulhu-loving cultist would… I begged my wife to let me spent more money, citing that these wondrous items may never be seen in this dimension again. She relented and I made an order. One of the tomes was already out of stock, so they gave me a store credit, which meant I had to place another order! So here’s what I got so far from Amazon and Chaosium’s sale (Which, by the way, is STILL going on), more are on the way. So, please share a pic or tell us what you’ve picked up during the sale. What have you done to pull Chaosium back from the abyss?
